Privacy Policy

Faal is built around personal information by nature. A birth chart needs a date, a time, and a place. A palm reading needs a photo. A dream journal holds private thoughts. We take that seriously. This policy explains what we collect, what we do with it, and what you can ask us to do about it.

What We Collect

Account information

• Email address and display name when you create an account.

Profile information you give us

• Birth date, birth time, and birth city or location, used to calculate your natal chart and related readings.
• Any additional birth data you add for people in your contacts list inside the app.

Reading inputs

• Photos you upload for coffee cup (tasseography) or palm reading features. These are processed to generate your reading and are not stored permanently beyond what you choose to save.
• Written content such as dream journal entries or notes you record in the app.

Usage and technical data

• Basic analytics: which features you use, session length, crash reports. This data is aggregated and not linked to your identity for analytics purposes.
• Device type and operating system version, for compatibility and debugging.

We do not collect data you do not actively provide. We do not access your camera roll, contacts, or location beyond what you explicitly share in a specific session.

How We Use It

• To calculate your natal chart, generate daily readings, and run the features you ask for.
• To sync your data across your devices when you are signed in.
• To send you notifications you have opted into (daily horoscope, reminders). You can turn these off in your device settings at any time.
• To improve the app through aggregated, anonymized analytics. We look at patterns across many users, not at individual accounts.
• To respond to support requests you send us.

That is the full list. We do not use your birth data, journal entries, or uploaded photos for any purpose other than providing the service to you.

Legal Basis for Processing

We process your personal data under the following grounds:

• Consent. Birth chart inputs, palm and coffee cup photos, dream entries, and tarot prompts are processed based on your explicit consent (KVKK Art. 5/1; GDPR Art. 6(1)(a) and Art. 9(2)(a) where readings touch special category data). You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting the relevant content or your account.
• Contract. Processing necessary to deliver the Faal service under the Terms of Service (KVKK Art. 5/2(c); GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).
• Legitimate interest. Security, abuse prevention, and aggregated analytics that improve the app (KVKK Art. 5/2(f); GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).

What We Do Not Do

• We do not sell your data to anyone.
• We do not share your information with advertisers or data brokers.
• We do not read your journal entries, dreams, or uploaded photos for marketing purposes.
• We do not build advertising profiles based on your spiritual or personal content.
• We do not use your data to train third-party AI models without your explicit consent.

Where Your Data Lives

Your data is stored in Supabase infrastructure located in the EU region. Data is encrypted at rest and in transit using industry-standard protocols. Photos you upload for readings are processed and, unless you explicitly save a reading, are deleted from our servers after processing completes.

We align with GDPR requirements for users in the European Union and European Economic Area. For users in Turkey, we operate in alignment with KVKK (Kisisel Verilerin Korunmasi Kanunu) principles.

Third-Party Services

A small number of trusted providers help us run the service:

• Cloud storage. Supabase, hosted in the EU region, stores account data, journal entries, and saved readings under contractual data-processing terms.
• Billing. Apple (App Store) and Google (Google Play) handle every purchase and subscription. Faal does not see or store your payment card details.
• Authentication. Sign-in providers used by the platform (e.g. Apple, Google) authenticate your account on the app's behalf.
• Push notifications. Apple Push Notification service and, on Android, Firebase Cloud Messaging deliver the notifications you opt into. Only a device token is shared, never the content of a reading.
• AI processing. Generating tarot, dream, coffee cup, and palm readings requires running your inputs through AI providers under written agreement. Inputs are not used to train third-party models.

International Transfers

Account, profile, and reading data is stored in the European Union. Push notification tokens and AI inference traffic may be processed in the United States. We rely on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and, where applicable, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework to maintain adequate protection.

Data Retention

• Active accounts. Your data is kept while your account is active.
• Inactive accounts. Accounts that have not been opened for two years may be removed after a prior notice.
• Deleted accounts. Associated data is removed within 30 days of deletion, except where law requires us to keep specific records longer.
• Legal holds. Limited records (e.g. transaction logs) may be retained for tax, fraud-prevention, or compliance reasons.

Cookies and Tracking

The Faal website uses essential cookies for language and theme preferences and aggregated, privacy-friendly analytics. We do not run advertising cookies. The mobile app does not use cookies; preferences are stored locally on your device.

Your Rights

Under GDPR and KVKK you can request:

• Access to a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correction of inaccurate or outdated information.
• Deletion of your account and the data tied to it. You can do this directly inside the app under Settings > Account > Delete Account; the rest is handled automatically and completed within 30 days.
• Objection to processing, or withdrawal of consent for optional processing such as analytics.
• Portability of the data you have provided.

For anything other than in-app account deletion, write to the contact address at the bottom of this page with the subject line "Data Request". We respond within 30 days.

Children

Faal requires users to be at least 13 years old on Google Play and at least 17 years old on the Apple App Store, per each platform's content guidelines. We do not knowingly collect data from children below these age thresholds. Underage accounts are removed promptly upon notification.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to how we handle your data, we will notify you in the app before those changes take effect. The "updated" date at the top of this page reflects the date of the most recent revision.
